SKYWARD

In Looking at Pictures
Robert Walser
asks pensively

why the sky is never
under our feet
but always high above?

It's all backwards
I agree
except at night
when clouds are pillows
and the sky
a lurching mattress

at night
the sky is definitely
beneath our feet

the night sky
is the spreading dark
under the bed

At first I knew what that meant. Right now I'm not so sure.

Travelling Palm Snapshots
by Tamara Chatterjee

Cambodia (December, 2002) – We hired a tuk-tuk to schlepp us around the temples for the day. Upon arrival at Ankor Thom; our autoist hopped up an elevated banyan root mound to join the posse in serenading the enlightened wayfarers. It was a lively interlude before entering the majestic overgrown ceremonious site.
