SKYWARD
In Looking at Pictures
Robert Walser
asks pensively
why the sky is never
under our feet
but always high above?
It's all backwards
I agree
except at night
when clouds are pillows
and the sky
a lurching mattress
at night
the sky is definitely
beneath our feet
the night sky
is the spreading dark
under the bed

Some Trees
by Malgorzata Wolak Dault
Number 40
In Robert Lowell's Notebook (New York: Farrar, Straus & Giroux, 1970), there is a poem called "Searchings" which contains the line "I like the trees, because I can never be at their eye-level...."
At first I knew what that meant. Right now I'm not so sure.

Travelling Palm Snapshots
by Tamara Chatterjee
Cambodia (December, 2002) – We hired a tuk-tuk to schlepp us around the temples for the day. Upon arrival at Ankor Thom; our autoist hopped up an elevated banyan root mound to join the posse in serenading the enlightened wayfarers. It was a lively interlude before entering the majestic overgrown ceremonious site.
