POEM
Recapturing fragments of a poem written on November 2, 2019 (and some thoughts on Elliot’s theory on time)
A poem by Holly Lee
Fogged window
cloud breaths
I’m already dizzying
flying by frames after frames
Winter is present
it’s the only thing
survives rapid passings
tomorrow and tomorrow
until next Spring
Mostly
time present
briefly saying hi
to time past
speeding towards
time future
Yet
time is always present
future a forward shadow
a breath in Winter air
translucent and intangible
past, as dust
on a bowl of rose-leaves
collectible
disturb at your own will
That November
racing on Don Valley
I was contemplating
that river has a history
fleets as it drifts
it contains all time
I’m the observer
watching life flowing
I’m bus riding
the chauffeur is a good driver
I’m well seated
settled, without caring
another exit, another lane
in present and in future
in a new Winter
Yet
Winter will age
its eminent presence
could only last
a few months
Time has shape
see it flips
feel it, as it expands
