You cannot simply categorize Gary, a writer, a painter, or a photographer. They all roll into one, with different emphasis in different stages, or circumstances, playing more or less parts within his rich life of being. But I can say with certainty, that he's one of the few artists I've met in my life with really good visuals, in other words, he's a pretty good photographer. In truth, not many people who know Gary are aware of this. He sort of demonstrated this in an earlier project called BRIEF CANDLES: 100 Very Short plays. The plays were published online in MONDAY ARTPOST on a weekly basis, from 2012 to 2014. In this body of work, he was the director, set designer, painter, script writer and sometimes even acted as the self-appointed protagonist.

An exhibition of BRIEF CANDLES: Sets and Texts was organized at INDEXG in December 2014. In 2021, an online exhibition reintroduces this series, revisiting a number of acts selected from the plays.
