#126: Waterfall in Moonlight. December

SKY SPOTTING

To see the evening whole from pinprick point
you wheel the car around a farmer’s field
deposit your impressions on the apple air
amused by the ecstatic cowflops on the trail
cleansed by the white linen of moonlight
throw gemstones at the shop windows of night
which break into a hundred slivers of light
kindly irritated by the pundits of good taste
who chalk up all this underscore as waste.

Those with confidential flush have come to roost
where music scoops up feeling in a bag
to give to a midnight woman, Meadow-Hag,
who uses it to pillow her eliding bones
and dreams aloud in pastoralizing moans

Coffee and Tea 鴛鴦偶寄
by Holly Lee

Ground

Sleeplessness
creeps back
am I going to die
I lie
a bag of
soared bones

Life's changed
familiar bed
new dividing wall
where sounds seep through
and, every tap on the floor
sends alarm
my mystical music library

In fact I don't hear
music anymore
it has gone hibernated

This senselessness
placelessness
selflessness

Feel like going to expire
ready to give up
every good taste in life
including my year long
swollen left arm
oddly beautiful
is this not
my hand?
not too clumsy to perform
cooking and washing
tying and untying
a butcher's knot

Tabletop Studio
by Gary Michael Dault

No. 187. Tough Questions.

“And now what will you paint?”
asked the banshee critic.

“Whatever I find
in the pockets of my mind,”
he replied.

“And what if there’s nothing there
but the lint of old possibilities,
or the flotsam of discarded
ideas?”

“I will work with
whatever is there.”
